BRIEF HISTORY OF THE JAGUAR E TYPE
The
E Type Jaguar was first produced in 1961. As for the
XK120 in 1948, the E Type was then the world's fastest
manufactured car (top speed is 240 KpH) and sold at a much lower price
than its main Italian competitors : Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini.
This competitive advantage, in addition to its stunning
appearence explain its success for nearly 15 years.

HOW MUCH IS A
JAGUAR E TYPE ?
The
Jaguar E Type's price encountered important changes in the past twenty
years. Of course, this is not a "cheap" classic car, but the
Jaguar E represents a very good value for money. What was true in 1961
is still true now : the performance of a Ferrari from the same era, for
purchase cost at least 30% lower. The prices depend on 2 main
criterias : the body type and the series. From the most valuated to the
"cheapest" : roadster, 2 coupe and 2 plus 2 (except
Series 3
V12) for the body type; and series 1 3.8l, Series 3 V12 / series 1
4.2l, Series 2 4.2l. Thus, at the 2 ends of the range, you can find
convertibles 3.8l and V12 for the most expensive and coupe 2 plus 2
series 2 for the lowest priced. The classifieds also helps to
evaluate each serie but be careful, however, to the condition of
vehicles offered for sale, unexpected rebuild works can raise the final
cost above twice the amount you paid for the car.
